Sean has been a founder for 20 years, building companies that created entirely new categories, such as Flurry and Outlier.ai.

How I got here

Over the past 20 years, Sean has built numerous companies at the forefront of major technology revolutions. In 2005, Sean founded Flurry, which he grew over nine years to become the largest analytics and advertising platform for mobile apps, backed by First Round Capital, Union Square Ventures, DFJ, Menlo Ventures, and Crosslink Capital. Flurry was the mobile industry leader and one of the top ten data companies in the world, with over 500,000 customers supporting over 2 million apps on over 2 billion devices before being acquired by Yahoo! in 2014.

In 2015, Sean founded Outlier.ai (with Mike), the world’s first automated data analysis platform. Outlier’s AI platform allowed Fortune 500 companies to identify hidden opportunities in their data by finding insights automatically. Outlier customers included Nike, Capital One, Johnson & Johnson, and Gartner named it a cool vendor. Backed by Emergence Capital, Ridge Ventures, Homebrew, and First Round Capital, Outlier was acquired in 2022.

Throughout his career, Sean has mentored and coached hundreds of tech CEOs and is a sought-after speaker on building high-growth companies. In 2015 he founded LucidFog, a venture fund that provides both capital and coaching, with investments in 71 companies (including LaunchDarkly, EasyPost, and Sardine) and 12 venture funds (including Susa Ventures, Ridge Ventures and Costanoa Ventures).

Sean holds a BA in engineering and computer science from Dartmouth and an MS in computer science from Cornell, focusing on AI.

What we'll work on together

  • Interviewing hundreds of potential customers and interrogating the results to ensure we understand the problem deeply enough.
  • Designing dozens of product candidates to choose which approach is the best solution to our problem.
  • Building the product using the latest web development frameworks and tools. 
  • Designing the initial go-to-market approach and selling the first few customers.
